The moment I walked into my positive psychology class my junior year in college, I was so ready to dismiss it. The cynic in me thought – “Pfft! Come on! As if! To teach someone how to be happy is an equivalent to trying to make Mara Rooney smile in pictures – absolutely pointless.” You either are or aren’t and that totally depends on your brain’s chemistry and the circumstances you’re in. But, was I wrong?

Hello fellow Stylegazers! Our long lost friend SUN has finally decided to grace us with its presence, giving me an excuse to chill at one of Port Washington’s parks. There’s nothing I find as relaxing as just being “down by the water.” The sun and wind in your hair, the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks (or as they embrace the shore), seagulls making circles in the sky and ducks, geese and swans disrupting the

Sun’s out and you know what that means? Yes – FUN! But also – safety. As soon as it starts feeling like summer out (even though we should care about these things during the "cuffing season" too), the first thing I think of is unfortunately not the bikinis, but how to properly protect myself. Call me a hypochondriac, but sun, although crucial to the life on Earth, can also be detrimental to our health.

To the mothers in our lives: You gave us life, love and nurture. You are a parent and a friend. You are the backbone and the neck that turns our heads into right directions. You are the multitasker. You are unconditional love. You are the confidante. You are a compass and the lodestar that guides us out of the darkness. You are all of that and more. You are EVERYTHING. Without you, the life wouldn’t have the same quality and meaning as it does.

Hello my dearest Stylegazers! Last Sunday, I’ve decided to go to the church, because let’s be honest - all of us sometimes just need to stop, reflect and work on the spiritual aspect of our existence. You never know what you can find out about yourself, when you just quiet your mind and open up your heart. It was a lovely day, so I’ve decided to take a sunny stroll in the Madison Square Park.

Do you feel like you need to expand your musical horizons? If this applies to you, then sound the alarm, because your life is in a serious state of emergency! And you know what people do in case of emergency? Break the glass and listen to I.C.E!

If you’re not on vacation, just like me my friend – why not trick your mind into thinking that you actually are? Now, this shouldn’t limit your productivity and I’m not suggesting you should leave your brain on the shelf - au contraire... I believe that you can definitely get into that celebratory and chillaxed mode, just like you would when you’re vacationing, without hindering your day-to-day functioning.
